Sunrise Solar Australia (SSA) is a focussed Solar Power equipment supplier and installation company which provides a range of exclusive services to small and medium sized domestic builders and consumers.

While the Solar Power industry is not new, it can be complicated and confusing with many installers going out of business due to having immature business models, inadequate processes, sloppy warranty management and poor relationships with suppliers.

Solar energy will continue to grow in popularity in Australia however, since 2011 we have seen 95 solar panel and inverter manufacturers and 544 solar companies go out of business in Australia. It is estimated that 650,000 out of 1.6 million installed solar systems are **orphans.

The Solar Power market has been through a lot of challenges since its growth spurt early this century. Unfortunately lack of regulation made it easy for unqualified and inexperienced suppliers and installers to enter the market. The traditional manufacturer/distribution model has been challenged by suppliers classified as importers pushing product without a commitment to managing the warranty process and quality after sales care. They simply make their margin and push the warranty to the manufacturer.

In reviewing warranty documents from a number of importers they are word heavy, confusing and simply fall back on a “limited warranty” clause. When pressed on who pays for the labour and what role they play in keeping all the warranty information together they simply have no answer.

The role of some suppliers is simply to make hay while the sun shines – but what happens to the consumer in 5 or 10 years time when they are out of business and who pays for the labour?
